Libya No-Fly Zone: France & Britan Lead, US dragged along - Germany votes with Russia and China
Joe: Fox News is reporting a 6 month No-Fly Zone would cost some $9 billion (see below). I say let’s spend the money to bring freedom and democracy to the world. The US and the Western World may not have another opportunity so we should seize it now. Carpe Diem! Remember the US found Sadaam, Marcos, Noriega, etc. very useful to a point when their time was up we pulled the plug. For the NFZ expense hopefully Europe will pitch in and maybe they should take the lead since they actually led the effort particularly France.
The UN Security Council approved a no-fly zone over Libya along with "all necessary measures" to enforce it, including airstrikes. Sounds like war to me, people will die. The vote went down with France, UK, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gabon, Lebanon, Nigeria, Colombia, South Africa, Portugal, and a dithering US, approving, China, Russia, Brazil, Germany and India abstained or in other words chickened out from voting no. What is that line from the Rush song… something like “if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice”! See links to latest news below. -Bob
